Welcome Summer!
Today marks the end of the spring semester at school. I plan to move ahead into the summer with a personal project that I hope will consume the summer months. I hope that this summer I will be able to apply what I have learned this semester. For the next few months I hope that I can capture new and exciting photographs. For those of you who are not into Photography, take this time to capture what you see everyday, challenge yourself, and never settle. For those of you who practice photography on a day to day basis, I encourage you to continue doing what you love to do. Now is the time to get that shot that you have always wanted to capture.

FujiFilm Instax Mini 8
Today I bought the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 and I love it. It is basically the modern version of a Polaroid camera. The camera comes in five different colors and creates instant images the size of a credit card. This camera is great for the everyday snapshot and the small image size makes it easy to carry them around with you.
For those of you who don't enjoy the bells and whistles of a DSLR camera, this camera is so simple to use. There are five settings for lighting, indoors, cloudy, sunny, super sunny, and high key. All you do is push a button to turn the camera on, change the light setting accordingly, set up your composition in the view finder and push the shutter button. The photo instantly comes out of the top of the camera and within minutes you have yourself a lovely little photograph.

Pantone Portraits
I came across this article yesterday while I was on Snapchat; I saw it in the Daily Mail discover page. I thought that this was a very unique portrait project. Angelica Dass, a Brazilian fine art photographer, took portraits of people and then took an 11x11 pixel swatch of the subject's face a matched it to the corresponding Pantone color. I seriously cannot get enough of this project. Below is a link to the article, I hope you find it as fun as i do.

New Black & White Leica
The new Leica M Monochrome camera is a strictly black and white camera and is completely blowing my mind right now. According to www.pdnonline.com this camera is three times faster than the original and uses a 35mm 24 megapixel monochrome image sensor. It is said that because the image sensor doesn't have a color array, it produces sharper images. However the part that really blows my mind is the fact that it can perform an ISO of 25,000.

Welcome!
Welcome to Brittany Mikel Photography!
I have been practicing photography for some time now. I am currently a second year photography major and I am still in the midst of finding myself and what I like to photograph. As I have been exploring the realms of possibilities, I have been told that I have an eye for structure, like that of an architect. However, portraiture is something that I really enjoy, so I have spent the past 15 weeks constructing a portfolio of both architecture and portraits. These photographs can be seen on my website:www.brittanymikelphotography.com
